No control over police, says J&K CM as Oppn walks out over cane charge on daily-wagers

Omar Abdullah, the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, claimed on Tuesday that he had no authority over the police and that the lathicharge on protesting daily-wage workers of the Jal Shakti department should not have taken place.
Opposition MPs criticized Monday's lathicharge on the daily wage workers and emphasized their rallies calling for the regularization of their positions and the release of their earnings as the House convened for the day.
After a verbal sparring match between BJP and National Conference members, the BJP members left the House amid a commotion. "You (BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa) have asked a question; please wait for the answer," Abdullah added, interjecting.
