According to senior police officials on Sunday, the voice sample of Congress MP Rakesh Rathore from Sitapur, who is currently incarcerated on rape charges, will be examined at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Mahanagar in Lucknow, on Tuesday to confirm that it is his voice in a recorded telephone conversation that the 45-year-old rape survivor presented to support her accusations against him.
The woman, who was once close to the MP, had already filed a formal complaint against Rathore, alleging that he had raped her several times over the previous four years with the intention of marrying her and advancing her political career.
In accordance with Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) sections 64 for rape, 351(3) for criminal intimidation, and 327(2) for threatening with a firearm, the FIR was filed with Sitapur City Kotwali on January 17. The accused was allegedly heard attempting to persuade the woman not to approach the police during a taped phone call that the woman has produced.
