Four of the eight workers who were trapped in a collapsed tunnel of the SLBC project have been found by authorities, Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced on Saturday. At the tunnel, he told reporters, "In my opinion, the whereabouts of four people have been located through radar." He said he hoped they would be freed by Sunday night.
According to him, the other four seem to have been trapped underneath the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). When asked how the four workers who were discovered were doing, the minister recalled that he had stated on the first day that there was little prospect of them surviving.
After over a week of arduous work, the most recent discovery represents a major advancement in what the experts consider to be one of the most difficult rescue missions in recent memory. Along with Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Minister Krishna Rao made the announcement during a meeting with personnel in charge of the rescue effort.
