NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Collegium's decision to repatriate Justice Yashwant Varma following the money's discovery was met with opposition on Friday by the Allahabad High Court Bar Association, who said that they are "not a trash bin."

The bar association claimed in a statement that it was "taken aback" by the Collegium's decision and that "we aren't a trash bin" in a scathing letter to the Chief Justice and all of the Allahabad high court's judges, according to Live Law.

These comments followed the discovery of a mound of undeclared cash, purportedly worth 15 crore, at the home of Justice Yashwant Varma after a fire broke out.

"This Collegium ruling begs the important question: Is the Allahabad High Court a garbage can? Examining the existing state of affairs, which shows that the Allahabad High Court lacks judges and has not nominated any new justices in many years, makes this issue significant.
