Today is the hearing for Kannada actress Ranya Rao's bail request in connection with claims of gold smuggling.

Kannada actress Ranya Rao has pleaded for bail at the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court after being arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport on Monday. She was charged with regularly smuggling gold into the nation, and a hearing on the petition is set for today (Thursday).

After Ranya was brought before a special court that handles financial violations on March 4, she was placed under judicial imprisonment until March 18, 2025.

She had a required medical examination at Bengaluru's Bowring Hospital prior to being taken into custody. She allegedly said during questioning that she had been to Dubai for work. Authorities believe her journey was connected to illicit gold shipments, though.
