A corporate employee who moved from Pune to Bengaluru for a 40% salary increase regretted the decision within a year because of the high cost of living.
According to a viral LinkedIn post, the employee earning ₹18 lakh per annum (LPA) in Pune accepted a ₹25 LPA offer in Bengaluru, but he found that the increased expenses, especially high rents and commuting costs due to terrible traffic, negated the salary benefits.
He missed the affordable life in Pune, including the ₹15 vada pav.
Other LinkedIn users shared similar experiences, with some defending Bengaluru by stating that the cost of living can be managed with better budgeting.
One user who had lived in Mumbai said that Mumbai is cheaper than Bengaluru, except for rent.
