A cloud of profound grief has descended upon the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar community following the tragic drowning of three first-year BTech students during a weekend outing in Assam. The bodies of the three young individuals—two women and one man—were recovered after an intensive, prolonged search and rescue mission at the treacherous Boulsol Waterfall (also known as Bulchol or Hmunthajao) located in the Harangajao area of the Dima Hasao district.
The deceased students have been identified as Sauhard Rai (20) and Sarbavartika Singh (20), both hailing from Uttar Pradesh, and Radhika Kumari (19) from Bihar. All three were first-year BTech students, their promising academic careers cut short by this heartbreaking waterfall accident.
