Over 65 Lakh Voters Missing from Bihar Draft Roll, Says Election Commission

The Election Commission (EC) revealed on Friday that over 65 lakh voters were excluded from Bihar’s draft electoral roll, significantly lowering the state’s voter count from approximately 7.9 crore to 7.24 crore. The exclusion occurred during the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) process ahead of the upcoming elections in the state.

According to the EC, major gaps were identified in districts like East Champaran, Madhubani, and Gopalganj, where around 3 lakh eligible voters were left out of the draft list. The omissions have raised serious concerns about voter representation and the accuracy of the electoral process in poll-bound Bihar.
