BJP Targets Kejriwal Over ‘Sheesh Mahal 2.0’ in Chandigarh

The BJP on October 31, 2025 accused AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal of using Punjab government resources to create a lavish government bungalow in Chandigarh, dubbing the project “Sheesh Mahal 2.0”. Delhi BJP and AAP Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal shared a satellite image of a Sector 2 government bungalow complex and alleged the two-acre property was allotted from the Punjab chief minister’s quota for Kejriwal’s use. The BJP called the alleged bungalow a “luxurious 7-star” complex, saying the AAP chief — described as Punjab’s “Super CM” — was being given special privileges from government quota allotments.

The Aam Aadmi Party dismissed the claims as “fake” and said the image circulated by the BJP was actually of the Punjab chief minister’s camp office, not a private dwelling for Kejriwal. AAP asked the BJP to produce an allotment letter and said the controversy was part of a pattern of political smears, citing earlier disputes such as the Sheesh Mahal allegations in Delhi and questions over construction at Flag Staff Road.

The controversy adds to a string of political attacks ahead of state campaigning season and is likely to intensify media scrutiny. Legal experts note that allotment of government properties involves documented approvals and contestable procedures; BJP critics say the party must produce documentary proof while AAP’s rebuttal points to mistaken image attribution.
