Three government school teachers in Shimla, including the headmaster, booked after allegedly assaulting an eight-year-old Dalit boy and placing a scorpion in his pants.

Shimla Teachers Booked After Dalit Boy Assault Complaint
Three teachers at a government primary school in Shimla’s Rohru subdivision have been booked after a father lodged a harrowing complaint that his eight-year-old son — a Class 1 pupil — was repeatedly beaten and humiliated, and that a scorpion was placed inside the child’s pants. Police said the case was registered on Sunday and that the accused include headmaster Devendra and teachers Babu Ram and Kritika Thakur.
According to the police complaint, the boy was taken to the school toilet by the teachers, who allegedly put a scorpion in his trousers. The father also said sustained beating had caused the child’s ear to bleed and damaged his eardrum. The complaint charges the teachers under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for wrongful confinement, voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation, and under the Juvenile Justice Act for cruelty toward a child.
Authorities additionally invoked sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act — citing allegations of caste-based humiliation — after the complainant said Nepali and Dalit (Harijan) students were forced to sit separately from Rajput pupils during meals. The father accused the teachers of threatening the family, warning them that if they complained they would be arrested or face worse, and said the headmaster had even threatened to expel the child on October 30. Police said a communication is being sent to senior officers to decide whether the probe should be handled by a gazetted officer.
