The return of the Indian Premier League (IPL) does bring with a series of new rules for the 18th edition of the competition. There will need to be changes made to several areas of the game as ten franchises get ready to compete for the IPL trophy.

A few modifications, including player substitutions for a portion of the season, have been rumored, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already changed several only days before the new season begins.
