Haryana Student Stabbed UK Suspects Released on Bail
A cloud of tragedy and immense frustration hangs over the family of Vijay Kumar Sheoran, a 30-year-old student from Haryana whose life was abruptly cut short in the United Kingdom. Vijay, who had boldly quit a stable government job earlier this year to pursue higher education and a better future abroad, was fatally stabbed to death in the UK city of Worcester on November 25. The grief has been compounded by a controversial development in the homicide investigation: the UK Police released five murder suspects on bail while the probe continues.
The deceased, a native of Charkhi Dadri district, was a student at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol. According to the West Mercia Police, officers found Vijay with serious injuries on Barbourne Road early that Tuesday morning. He was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries later that day. Following the incident, five men were quickly arrested on suspicion of murder. However, the subsequent decision to free these suspects on bail, rather than holding them in custody, has sent a wave of shock and anger through the Indian community both overseas and back home.
