Who is Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the 26/11 accused being extradited to India?

Tahawwur Hussain Rana, who was detained by the FBI 16 years ago, is allegedly being brought to India by a joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) after he refused to halt his extradition from the United States. David Coleman Headley, one of the masterminds of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that left India's financial capital under siege for nearly three days and claimed 166 lives, is thought to have been close friends with Tahawwur Rana.

In his next trial, Tahawwur Rana is also expected to present important evidence regarding Pakistan's role in the 26/11 attacks. According to sources mentioned in numerous media, he is anticipated to be placed under strict security in Tihar jail upon his arrival in India, and preparations for his trial are also being undertaken in a secure facility in Mumbai.

The US Supreme Court recently denied Tahawwur Rana's final appeal, effectively paving the path for his transfer to Indian authorities, which prompted the extradition. A Pakistani Canadian entrepreneur and former military physician is Tahawwur Hussain Rana. According to allegations, the 64-year-old helped organize the Mumbai 26/11 assaults.
