Bengaluru Police Commissioner orders crackdown on IPL ticket black marketing at Chinnaswamy stadium

Eight people are allegedly involved in the illicit selling of IPL tickets after the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru Police discovered a black-market ticket scam operating outside the city's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, according to the Deccan Herald. Serious concerns regarding internal collaboration are raised by the fact that stadium and canteen employees were among those arrested.

The report claims that senior investigators have suggested the involvement of powerful Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) members and fear a wider connection. According to a senior police officer who told the publication that KSCA members would soon be called in for interrogation, "the accused had access to bulk tickets and even special passes, while regular fans struggled to get their hands on a single ticket."

18 tickets in different denominations—₹1,200, ₹5,000, and ₹13,000—were found by the CCB among the suspects. Allegedly, these were being auctioned for wildly exaggerated prices, between ₹7,000 and ₹32,000.
