Railways installs India's first ATM on a train in Maharashtra
Indian Railways has installed an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) atop a train in the nation's first effort at this type of installation. According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, the federal railway minister, the trial run was carried out on the Manmad-CST Panchvati Express train in Maharashtra on April 10.
He shared the video of the ATM installation on his X timeline, citing it as a component of a broader effort to bring about innovation and passenger convenience. "With rubber pads and bolts for vibration absorption, the ATM was securely fastened for its first trip. Additionally, two fire extinguishers have been placed in the designated area, according to Railways.
The program, known as "ATM on Wheels," complies with the Railway Board's order to look out unconventional methods of increasing railway profits from non-fare revenue. For the ATM, the Railways' mechanical crew converted the train's little pantry area into a safe compartment. Two fire extinguishers have been positioned adjacent to the ATM as a precaution, and it is rubber-padded and bolted to prevent harm from vibrations.
