Google introduces auto reboot feature for android devices locked for 3 days. Details here
Android devices will now automatically reboot if they are locked for three days in a row. Google unveiled this new function earlier this week via its Google System Release Notes page. The function of the functionality is comparable to that of the "Inactivity Reboot" feature on iPhones. Although Android phones will be able to access it, users of other platforms such as Wear OS, TV, and Android Auto might not be able to. When this feature will be available on compatible devices has not yet been announced by Google.
This feature, according to Mashable, is intended to improve security by making it more difficult for malevolent actors to compromise a device. Additionally, it might discourage the sale of stolen Android phones. The feature, which is included under the "Security and Privacy" section, is explained as follows: "It activates an optional security feature that will restart your device automatically if it is locked for three days in a row."
Rebooting a smartphone is an essential part of data protection. After the user first unlocks the phone, some data is decrypted. Subsequent unlocks then make that info easier to access. Last year, Apple introduced a comparable feature. Law enforcement organizations frequently depend on iPhones staying in this unlocked condition to support forensic investigations, as Mashable points out.
