Seventeen years after this jungle warfare force was established in the paramilitary to conduct operations in areas ravaged by the Naxals, the Central Reserve Police Force has chosen to deploy a special CoBRA battalion for counterterrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

At the force's 86th Raising Day celebration, which took place in this historic Madhya Pradesh town—the "birthplace" of the world's largest paramilitary force, which has around 3.25 lakh members—CRPF Director General (DG) Gyanendra Pratap Singh made this announcement.

As instructed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the army is now raising a new Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) for Jammu and Kashmir, according to the DG. Shah served as the event's principal guest. The futuristic unit will be utilized to improve the force's operational activities in the Union Territory, the CRPF chief stated.
