Manipur: Forces seize 22 IEDs during counter-insurgency op; 3 militants arrested

A joint team of security personnel in Manipur discovered 22 explosives during counter-insurgency operations in Tengnoupal district, raising new concerns about armed terrorist organizations' activity in the region. The explosives discovered included four metal improvised explosive devices (IEDs) measuring 152mm in diameter and eighteen plastic-bodied IEDs measuring 76mm in diameter.

Officials claimed the seizures occurred on April 19 during a joint search operation in Yangoubung and T Bongmol villages, which fall under the authority of Moreh police station. Tengnoupal is one of Manipur's districts bordering Myanmar, and it is regularly associated with insurgency movements.

Several communication devices, including seven handsets, five batteries, 10 FCC 7.62mm AK-47 rifles, two bulletproof jackets, one battle suit, and a pair of shoes, were also confiscated. According to a senior police officer, the seizure underscores the region's ongoing threat from rebel organizations.
