Trainer aircraft crashes in Gujarat's Amreli, pilot killed: Police
A training aircraft belonging to a private aviation academy crashed in a residential area of Gujarat's Amreli district on Tuesday, killing a student pilot, according to a police officer. According to PTI, the jet struck a tree before landing into an open field and catching flames.
According to Amreli Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kharat, the aircraft crashed into a residential area on Giriya Road in Amreli town around 12:30 p.m., for unknown reasons. The pilot was flying solo. The plane had taken off from the Amreli airport, he explained. According to Kharat, after crashing near Shastri Nagar, the jet caught fire and was engulfed in flames.
"After taking off from Amreli airport with a male trainee pilot, the trainer aircraft of an aviation academy based at the airfield crashed into a residential neighborhood. The trainee pilot, who was flying solo, died in the crash, and the aircraft was consumed by flames. "No one else was injured in the accident," Kharat stated. The SP stated that local police have begun the process of filing a case of accidental death and conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the tragedy.
