Pakistan shuts airspace to Indian airlines, suspends trade: Report
According to Reuters, Pakistan said on Thursday that it will immediately close its airspace to all Indian-owned and operated planes. It also banned all trade with India, including commodities moving through Pakistan to or from third nations, and opposed to India's move to put the Indus Waters Treaty on hold, according to the newspaper.
The Pakistani government has stated that any attempt to restrict or reroute the flow of water allocated to Pakistan, or any breach of its rights as a lower riparian state, will be considered "an act of war." Pakistan has also instructed Indian military advisers at its High Commission to leave by April 30, according to PTI.
India announced a number of actions on Wednesday to cut ties with Pakistan, a day after terrorists killed 26 people at a major tourist site in Kashmir, the country's bloodiest attack on civilians in over two decades. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told a media briefing that the cross-border linkages to the attack were discovered during a special meeting of the security council, triggering the decision to take action against Pakistan.
