Threats to Kashmiri students: J&K CM says in touch with state govts

Following reports of threats against Kashmiri students and traders in other states, including Himachal Pradesh, following Tuesday's Pahalgam terror incident that killed 26 people, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Thursday that he is in contact with his counterparts. "The J&K administration is in contact with the governments of the states where these complaints are coming from. I've also spoken with my counterpart chief ministers in these states and requested that they take extra precautions," Omar Abdullah wrote on X

Earlier, NC spokesman Imran Nabi Dar stated that Kashmiri students nationwide were concerned and requested the CM's assistance. "Videos of Kashmiri students nationwide afraid for their safety are frequently posted on social media. Dar requested that @CM_JnK @OmarAbdullah promptly intercede and talk with his counterparts around the country.

Several videos circulating on social media show Kashmiri students in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and other regions being ordered to leave in the aftermath of the incident. On Tuesday afternoon, terrorists opened fire in a meadow near Pahalgam, the tourism hub in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, killing 26 persons, the majority of them were tourists. It is the Valley's biggest terror attack since the February 2019 Pulwama incident, which killed 40 CRPF soldiers.
