10 killed, 4 injured after van hits bike, falls into well in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal/Mandsaur: Ten persons were murdered when a van collided with a bike and plunged into an open well in Madhya Pradesh Mandsaur district on Sunday, police said. The tragedy occurred near Budha-Takarwat Phante around 1.15 p.m., while 12 members of the Keer family from Ratlam were on their way to the Antari Mata temple in Manasa, Neemuch district, following a wedding in Mandsaur.

The victims were eight members of a family traveling in the van, bike rider Gobar Singh, a resident of Abakhedi village, and Manohar Singh, a local who attempted to rescue people from the well. According to Mandsaur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Anand, the Eco Van collided with a bike rider before falling into an open well.

The villagers alerted the police and attempted to rescue them. During the rescue operation, villager Monohar Singh died, and bike rider Gobar Singh also died from injuries." "The rescue operation is ongoing, and eight bodies have been recovered from the well." The van was also removed with the help of JCB. Four persons were injured in the mishap, including a three-year-old girl, and were sent to Mandsaur district hospital," the SP said.
