Delhi, New Delhi: As part of Operation Brahma, India has sent 625 metric tons (MT) of humanitarian aid and disaster relief (HADR) supplies to Myanmar, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced Tuesday. Following the terrible earthquake that rocked Myanmar on March 28, India initiated Operation Brahma to give the essential support, including medical assistance, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and Search and Rescue (SAR).
Operation Brahma is an all-government effort by India to address the extensive damage in Myanmar and to serve as the First Responder in times of disaster in the Neighbourhood. According to a statement from the MEA, 625 MT of humanitarian aid and disaster relief (HADR) supplies have been delivered thus far by five Indian Naval ships and six planes.
India sent a C-130J aircraft to deliver the first batch of HADR material to Myanmar, which included 15 tonnes of supplies from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the NDRF, including food, tents, blankets, and vital medications. The plane touched down in Yangon on March 29, according to the MEA.
