Pakistan army crosses Line of Control and fires at posts, India retaliates

The peace agreement between the two countries was broken when the Pakistan Army invaded the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian military responded to the violation with "controlled and calibrated" reaction at 1:10 PM on Tuesday. An Indian Army official with knowledge of the situation stated that the Nangi Tekri Battalion, which was part of the Krishna Ghati Brigade, responded forcefully to the unprovoked attack.

"The Pakistan Army's incursion across LC resulted in a mine explosion in the Krishna Ghati Sector on April 1, 25. The Pakistan Army then violated the ceasefire and fired without cause. Own troops reacted well, in a measured and controlled way. The person went on, "The situation is under control and is being closely monitored."

Ceasefire violations along the borders of Jammu and Kashmir have been rare since the two countries renewed an agreement on February 25, 2021.
