Mumbai weather: IMD issues rainfall, thunderstorm warning for next 3-4 hours

Over the next three to four hours, Mumbai is expected to have showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, according to a warning issued by the India Meteorological Department. At 4:25 p.m., the weather service posted an advisory on Nowcast, predicting light rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in Mumbai that could reach a maximum speed of less than 40 km/h.

An orange alert has been issued for Thane, where thunderstorms and moderate rainfall are expected. Similar warnings have also been given to other Maharashtra districts, including Palghar, Raigad, Nashik, and Pune. Cloudy skies and dust storm-like conditions have begun to spread throughout parts of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane. Many locals have been posting footage of the unexpected weather online.

Two days ago, Mumbai, Karjat, and Kasara had light rainfall. Following days of high heat, the Pune district is currently seeing hailstorms and mild showers.
