Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal calls off indefinite hunger strike

In order to push for important farmer demands, such as a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP) for crops, Punjab farmer activist Jagjit Singh Dallewal terminated his indefinite hunger strike on Sunday. Dallewal began the strike in November of last year. At a "Kisan Mahapanchayat" in Sirhind, which is in the Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab, he made the news.

"All of you farmers have requested that I break the death-defying fast. You have my gratitude for handling the agitation. I honor your feelings. Speaking to the crowd, Dallewal stated, "I take your order. He made his choice one day after being pushed to break the fast by Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu and Union Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

On November 26 of last year, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a senior leader of the joint forum that consists of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), launched an indefinite hunger strike in an effort to pressure the Center to accede to the demands of the farmers. He had kept up his fast till now, even though he started receiving medical assistance after negotiations were started in January.
