Nine men detained for abducting, gang raping minor in Rajasthan: Police
Jaipur: Nine males, all in their twenties, were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly abducting and gang raping a 17-year-old girl in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district, authorities said. The youngster, who was attending a friend's wedding in the hamlet on Tuesday night, had gone out of the venue to go to a neighboring field when she was reportedly taken by the nine accused, all of whom were from the same area.
"Around 11.30 p.m., she went to a nearby field to defecate when the nine accused abducted her and took her to a desolate location where they repeatedly raped her," said Bhupesh Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Jhalawar's Aklera police station. Her family assumed she was still at the celebration, and her friends were unaware she was absent. The family filed a report after she came home early on Wednesday, the SHO said.
The accused allegedly raped her for more than six hours before abandoning her in the countryside after she became unconscious. "The minor returned home after recovering consciousness. At 6.30 a.m., she went to the police station with her family members to file a FIR against all nine offenders," the SHO said. A case was filed under the appropriate portions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
