According to a statement released by the ministry of commerce, India has immediately prohibited the importation of any commodities from Pakistan, both directly and indirectly.
According to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), the restriction was put in place for public policy and national security reasons. All products made in or exported from Pakistan are immediately prohibited by a new clause that the Indian government has legally added to the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) under the headline "Prohibition on Import from Pakistan."
"Whether or not freely importable or otherwise permitted, the direct or indirect import or transit of any goods originating in or exported from Pakistan shall be prohibited with immediate effect, until further orders," the notification reads. Any exception from this rule will need the Indian government's prior consent. In reaction to Pakistan's encouragement of cross-border terrorism, India has implemented a number of steps since the April 22 terror assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 people dead.
