An army vehicle plunges down a 700-foot-deep chasm in J&K's Ramban, killing three soldiers
In the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, three Army men lost their lives on Sunday when their vehicle veered off the road and fell into a 700-foot-deep chasm, according to officials. The Army truck, which was a part of a convoy traveling along National Highway 44 from Jammu to Srinagar, lost control of the vehicle at approximately 11.30 am near Battery Chashma.
The Army, police, SDRF, and local volunteers quickly began a coordinated rescue operation. At the site, the bodies of the three troops inside the car were discovered. According to PTI, the deceased were Sepoys Amit Kumar, Sujeet Kumar, and Man Bahadur. They're pulling their bodies out of the gorge. The car was totally mangled by the impact of the collision, officials stated.
According to a police officer cited by PTI, a load carrier carrying fresh vegetables in the Ramban area went off the road and fell into a steep valley in March, killing two persons. The tragedy happened near Battery Cheshma on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway when the victims, driver Arshid Ahmad and his assistant Seva Singh, both about thirty years old, were making their way back to their village, Ukhral Pogal-Paristan. The bodies were retrieved from the several hundred-foot-deep valley following a coordinated rescue effort by the police and neighborhood volunteers, the officer said.
