Four people are detained in Bengaluru for illegally selling IPL tickets; an investigation suggests a more complex scheme: Report

Four people were arrested by Bengaluru's Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Friday for selling IPL match tickets outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for outrageous prices. 32 tickets for the crucial Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) vs. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) game were found in the possession of the accused, S Charan Raj, H Harshavardhan Sanklecha, K Vinay, and B Venkata Sai.

The report claims that items that were initially priced at ₹1,200 were being resold for up to ₹10,000 each. The main source of the tickets has been determined to be Venkata Sai. He allegedly had access to bulk allocations, according to investigators. Charan Raj's arrest marked the start of the operation, and the police were able to capture the other suspects thanks to other leads.

In addition to seizing cash and cell phones, authorities are currently looking into the source and method of obtaining these tickets. This goes beyond simple street-level advertising. We're investigating how so many tickets ended up in the hands of people who weren't supposed to distribute them," a senior police official stated.
