"Inflation Factor Affects Farmer Assistance, Such As MLA and MP Salaries": Veep
Gwalior: On Sunday, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar pushed for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in fertilizer subsidies for farmers, following the US model. He also insisted that inflation be taken into account while giving agriculturists financial aid, such as salaries for lawmakers and Members of Parliament.
The vice president stated, "The Prime Minister has taken inflation into account when adjusting the salaries of lawmakers and Members of Parliament, so why not when assisting farmers?" in an address to the professors and students of the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agriculture University in Gwalior. Inflation must be taken into consideration while giving farmers assistance. "In the United States, all aid provided to farmers is given directly, not through intermediaries," Dhankhar stated, highlighting the necessity of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in fertilizer subsidies.
The Indian government spends a lot of money on fertilizer subsidies, much like we do with the PM-KISAN system. It is now a topic for both contemplation and investigation. Each Indian farmer household might receive at least Rs 30,000 year if the same funds were sent to them directly. They must receive this sum directly," he continued. According to him, farmers do not really experience the effects of government fertilizer subsidies at the moment.
