Indian strikes on PoK resulted in the cancellation of more than 200 flights and the closure of 25 airports
On Wednesday, more than 200 flights were canceled and 25 airports temporarily ceased operations, causing significant disruptions to air traffic in northern and western India. Early this morning, Indian military troops hit terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) with missiles, causing the disturbance. The recent terror assault in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives prompted the airstrikes, which were a component of "Operation Sindoor."
By Wednesday evening, 25 major Indian airports were closed due to airspace and security restrictions. The 25 Indian airports that were shut down until May 9. With 165 flights canceled, IndiGo was the airline most impacted. A representative of the airline stated, "Due to government notification on airspace restrictions, over 165 IndiGo flights from multiple airports... are cancelled until 0529 hrs IST of 10 May 2025."
Additionally, Air India halted flights to and from a number of cities, including Amritsar, Srinagar, Jammu, and Leh. The company stated, "Air India flights to and from the following stations... are being cancelled till 0529 hrs IST on 10 May following a notification from aviation authorities on the closure of these airports."
