Massive Yoga Day Event in Visakhapatnam Led by PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined one of the world’s largest International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21 in Visakhapatnam. The Andhra Pradesh government organized the mega event stretching across 26 km from Ramakrishna Beach to Bhogapuram, with over 5 lakh people performing yoga simultaneously.
The event aims to set Guinness World Records, including a special 'Surya Namaskar' performance by 25,000 tribal students for 108 minutes at Andhra University. With 2.39 crore registrations, the turnout surpassed expectations.
Key Highlights:
326 designated yoga zones with ~1,000 participants each
Over 3,000 buses used to transport attendees
10,000 police officers, 1,200 CCTV cameras, drones for security
Backup space arranged for 30,000 people
3.32 lakh t-shirts and 5 lakh yoga mats distributed
1.3 lakh yoga venues across Andhra Pradesh
‘Yogandhra’ campaign held 15,000 yoga competitions statewide
CM Naidu proposes a yoga university and curriculum integration
The celebration not only showcased India's soft power but also emphasized making yoga a daily lifestyle practice.
