Yoga Day: From Himalayas to Sea, PM Modi Says Yoga United World
International Yoga Day is being celebrated not just in India but across the globe today. On this occasion, India will showcase yoga as a symbol of soft power to the world. Various events are being held in 1,300 cities across 191 countries, highlighting India’s ancient tradition and its gentle strength through yoga.
In London, people participated in a yoga program organized at the Indian High Commission. A participant shared, “I practice yoga daily. Yoga is for the mind, and it helps me control my thoughts. Once I gain control over my thoughts, I can also control what I say, do, and how I respond to others.”
In Japan, the Indian Embassy hosted a Yoga Day celebration in Tokyo. The Indian Embassy tweeted that Japan’s Prime Minister’s wife, Madam Yoshiko Ishiba, inaugurated the program. Foreign Minister’s wife Madam Satoko Iwaya was also present. Ambassador Sibi George addressed a gathering of more than 2,000 yoga enthusiasts. Reverend Myoken Hayama and Reverend Tomohiro Kimura of Tsukiji Hongwanji, Ambassador’s wife Madam Joice Sibi, senior government officials, resident ambassadors, diplomats, and friends of India in Japan were also in attendance.
