Faridabad Murder Secret Uncovered: Woman Buried by In-Laws in 10-Ft Pit

In a horrifying case from Faridabad, a woman named Tannu Kumar was allegedly murdered by her in-laws and buried in a 10-foot pit right outside their home — a crime that remained hidden for nearly two months.

Tannu, originally from Shikohabad in Uttar Pradesh, had married Arun Singh from Roshan Nagar, Faridabad, two years ago. Her father, Hakim, claims she faced constant dowry harassment and had returned to her parental home for a year. After intervention by a local panchayat, she resumed living with her in-laws, but tensions persisted.

On April 23, Arun and his father Bhoop Singh dug a deep pit outside their home, allegedly for sewer work. They later buried Tannu's body there after murdering her, covered the pit with the help of a mason, and filed a missing person's complaint the next day — even claiming she was mentally unstable.

Despite Hakim’s repeated pleas and suspicions about the freshly filled pit, police initially did not act. The truth came out only after officials, including Naib Tehsildar Jaswant Singh, supervised excavation at the site, recovering Tannu’s body.

Post-mortem was conducted at Badshah Khan Civil Hospital and the body handed over to her family.

The Palla Police Station has registered an FIR against four family members: Bhoop Singh, his wife Sonia, son Arun Singh, and daughter Kajal. Bhoop and Arun have been arrested and are under interrogation.
