French Woman Alleges Rape by Local in Udaipur After Party: FIR Filed, Accused Absconding
A 30-year-old French tourist has filed a rape complaint against a 28-year-old man, Pushparaj Ojha alias Siddharth, in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The incident allegedly took place after a party at The Greek Farm Cafe and Restro on Monday night.
According to the FIR, the accused lured the woman to his rented apartment in Sukher under the guise of showing her local sights. When her phone battery died, she entered the flat to charge it—at which point the assault reportedly occurred, despite her repeated pleas to be dropped back at her hotel. The accused drove her back early the next morning.
The woman is currently stable and receiving medical care at a private hospital. The police have launched a manhunt and have informed the French Embassy, which is providing consular support. Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal confirmed the case is being handled with urgency and sensitivity.
Broader Safety Concerns
This disturbing case reignites concerns about the safety of women—particularly foreign tourists—in India’s major travel destinations. Authorities have promised swift justice and reassured the public about strengthened security measures.
