Naidu assures Banakacharla project won’t harm Telangana’s interests

Synopsis: Trying to dispel the fears of Telangana, N Chandrababu Naidu said both Telugu states will benefit from the link project.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has defended the Godavari-Banakacharla (GB) link project, claiming that it did not hurt Telangana's interests.

Speaking to media persons at Kuppam, his home constituency, on Thursday, 3 July, Naidu dismissed Telangana’s worries about Banakacharla as unfounded.

He recalled laying foundation stones for several projects in Telangana and asserted that both states could benefit from utilising Godavari waters, with 2,000 TMCFT of water wasted into the sea.

Referring to the government’s focus on healthcare for the poor, he said efforts were on to leverage technology to provide advanced facilities. He also focused on the launch of a DG Nerve Centre in Kuppam in partnership with Tata and the state-wide rollout of a good governance programme. Naidu detailed development and welfare initiatives undertaken in Kuppam over the last year, supported by the Telugu Desam Party's cadre-based outreach.
