Delhi issues traffic advisory for Muharram; key routes to avoid listed
The Delhi Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of Muharram processions scheduled for Sunday, July 6, urging commuters to avoid major routes across the city due to extensive diversions and temporary closures.
Large-scale Tazia processions will be carried out across the national capital, drawing thousands of participants. As a result, significant disruptions are expected, especially in areas such as Old Delhi, Connaught Place, and Aurobindo Marg.
Key Routes Impacted
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta, the main Tazia procession will start from Old Delhi and pass through Connaught Place and Aurobindo Marg, culminating at Karbala. Several smaller processions from various parts of the city will further impact local traffic flow.
The main procession will move along:
Chitli Qabar
Churi Walan
Matia Mahal
Jama Masjid
Chawri Bazar
Hauz Qazi
It will then return along the same route.
