2026 BMW F 450 GS Design Revealed in New Production Model Filing
A Clear Look at the Upcoming BMW F 450 GS Production Mode
At EICMA last November, BMW showcased the Concept F 450 GS — a preview of a new twin-cylinder adventure bike designed to fit between the G 310 GS and the F 800/900 GS. Since then, several spy shots of the prototype have surfaced. Now, official design filings from the UK Intellectual Property Office have revealed what the final production version will look like.
Key Differences from the Concept
The new filings show several updates compared to the concept model:
Street-Ready Additions: The production bike includes mirrors, turn indicators, reflectors, and passenger seating, which weren’t part of the original concept.
Wheels: The concept had wire-spoked wheels, but the production model features five-spoke cast wheels similar to those on the BMW F 900 R.
Body Adjustments: The trim above the BMW logo is smaller and lower in profile. The windscreen design is also new.
Rear Design Changes: The rear subframe now includes added bodywork and appears to have mounts for panniers (side luggage). To accommodate this, BMW re-routed the exhaust so the muffler sits beside the rear wheel instead of underneath.
Shared Features with the Concept
Despite changes, several features remain unchanged:
Frame & Engine: The frame, suspension, and the parallel-twin engine look identical. BMW says the engine delivers 35 kW (47 hp) — the maximum allowed for A2 license holders in Europe.
Suspension & Weight: While the concept had a fully adjustable inverted fork and a lightweight build of 175 kg (385 lbs), these specifics can’t be confirmed from the filings alone.
Launch Timeline & Competition
BMW is expected to officially unveil the production-ready F 450 GS this fall, possibly at EICMA again. Final specs will reveal how it stacks up against competitors like the KTM 390 Adventure R, CFMOTO Ibex 450, and Moto Morini Alltrhike.
