Rains soak Delhi, improving air quality to satisfactory level

Rains drenched Delhi on Sunday, August 3, 2025, causing waterlogging in several areas such as Deoli, Panchkuian Road, Moti Bagh, ITO, Mukherjee Nagar, and Pul Prahladpur. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported moderate to heavy rainfall across various parts of the city from Saturday night through early Sunday morning.

Mayur Vihar recorded the highest rainfall at 27 mm between 11:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. Other areas also received significant rainfall, including Pusa (24.5 mm), Najafgarh (22 mm), Pragati Maidan (18.7 mm), Palam (14.2 mm), and Safdarjung (8.2 mm). Light showers were also observed in Lodi Road, Ridge, and Ayanagar.

The IMD noted that rainfall was subdued on Friday and much of Saturday, picking up intensity later in the evening. Between 8:30 a.m. on August 1 and 8:30 a.m. on August 2, Ayanagar recorded 11 mm of rain, Safdarjung 4.6 mm, and Lodi Road 4.2 mm.

Delhi's minimum temperature was recorded at 24.2 degrees Celsius, nearly three degrees below the seasonal average. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity stood at 70 percent at 8:30 a.m.

Air quality was recorded in the satisfactory category at 9 a.m., with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 78, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). As per CPCB classification, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 satisfactory, 101 to 200 moderate, 201 to 300 poor, 301 to 400 very poor, and 401 to 500 severe.
