Russia Launches a Drone and Missile Barrage Against Much of Ukraine

Overnight, Russia carried out yet another major attack against targets around Ukraine, leaving at least five people dead and numerous others injured. Approximately 500 attack drones and over 50 missiles, including the ballistic Kinzhal type, made up the barrage, which stretched from Kharkiv in the northeast to Lviv in the far west and Odesa on the Black Sea coast, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated on the X platform.

The strikes resulted in thousands of people losing electricity and four fatalities in Lviv. In the southeast city of Zaporizhzhia, where one person was killed, hundreds of customers were without gas, regional governor Ivan Fedorov posted on Telegram. Kherson, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, and Chernihiv were among the other areas attacked.

" According to a statement on X, Poland's military responded to the Russian attack by scrambling jets. In recent weeks, Poland has reacted to Russian actions in western Ukraine on several occasions. The strikes follow at least 30 injuries caused by an airstrike on Saturday targeting a train station in the northern Sumy area. Moscow has stepped up its aircraft bombardments in recent weeks, concentrating on energy facilities, as its full-scale invasion continues far into its fourth year.
