Maharashtrian women are the largest borrowers, with 50% of Indian women borrowers being between the ages of 25 and 35: Report

According to recent research by Bharat Loan, women from Maharashtra and Karnataka account for the largest percentage of all loan disbursements, with half of all female borrowers in the nation being between the ages of 25 and 35.

Women now make up over 11% of all loan disbursements in 2025, according to the "Bharat Loan Lending Report 2025," which was published the day before International Women's Day. Despite having a small percentage, their gradual but steady development suggests that women are becoming more accessible and that financial services are becoming more widely known.

Furthermore, women from Maharashtra make up 28% of all loan disbursements, compared to 23%, 13%, and 11% from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi, respectively. The study also stated that "loans are concentrated in the western and southern regions."
