The CEO of Boeing requests "brutal" input from employees in an effort to change the company's culture.
Kelly Ortberg, the CEO of Boeing, is asking staff members to help reveal the company's long-standing issues, even if the management finds the answers "brutal.
"In his second companywide speech to Boeing employees on Wednesday, Ortberg stated, "I want to hear what the employees have to say," according to a Bloomberg story. "And we're going to put an action plan on those things, and to be honest, I think they're going to be brutal to leadership."
In November, Ortberg, who had been CEO in August, voiced his displeasure with Boeing's culture, citing the lack of civility among its employees. He even brought attention to the severe retaliation that supervisors and lower-level employees may encounter for reporting operational failures, as whistleblowers have shown. According to the report, Ortberg focused on Boeing's top-down culture and lack of leadership training while addressing employees in St. Louis who were watching via a webcast, with tens of thousands more watching.
