China's 'elephant-dragon dance' reaction to PM Modi's remark on Lex Fridman podcast

A cooperative dance between the elephant and the dragon is the only option for both countries, China said Monday, expressing "appreciation" for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement on India-China ties on Lex Fridman's podcast. Reacting to PM Modi's positive statement on India-China relations, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said her country noted the statement and appreciated it.

Speaking on the Lex Fridman podcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need to improve ties between China and India, stating that rivalry shouldn't degenerate into hostilities and that disagreements shouldn't be substituted by arguments.

"Historical records show that China and India have been exchanging knowledge for ages. They have always worked together to advance the common good. According to historical records, China and India together formerly accounted for almost half of the global GDP. India's contribution was that enormous. The Prime Minister told Lex Fridman, "And I think our ties have been very strong, with deep cultural connections."
