DRI says Ranya Rao confessed to using ‘hawala channels’ for buying gold

The accused had acknowledged that the financial transaction was being carried out through illegitimate channels, according to DRI advocate Madhu Rao.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) told a court on Tuesday that Kannada star Ranya Rao had acknowledged utilizing the illicit "hawala" conduit to transfer money in order to purchase gold. Due to her suspected involvement in a gold smuggling case, the actress was arrested earlier this month.

According to PTI, DRI advocate Madhu Rao claimed that the accused had acknowledged the financial transaction was carried out through unauthorized channels.
