Eknath Shinde joke row: Trouble mounts for comedian Kunal Kamra, 3 more cases filed against him in Mumbai

Three separate cases were filed against comedian Kunal Kamra at the Khar police station in west Mumbai on Saturday due to his controversial stand-up comedy routine, which included a spoof on Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde. According to the Mumbai Police, the mayor of Jalgaon city filed one of the complaints, while a hotelier and a businessman from Nashik filed the other two.

According to the report, Kunal Kamra has not yet shown up for the investigation despite being called twice by Khar police for interrogation. In relation to the FIRs filed against him, the Madras high court granted Kunal Kamra temporary anticipatory relief on Friday. Judge Sunder Mohan granted conditional temporary anticipatory bail till April 7.

For additional interrogation in the case, the Mumbai Police had requested that Kunal Kamra show up at the Khar police station on March 31. In the case that Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel filed at the Khar police station, Kamra received this summons for the third time. In the first two summonses, Kamra did not show up for the police.
