For the first time in 46 years, Holi was celebrated at Kartikeya Mahadev in Sambhal.

For the first time in 46 years, devotees celebrated Holi at Kartikeya Mahadev in Khaggu Sarai on Thursday under strict security. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shreesh Chandra, a sufficient number of police officers have been sent in to guarantee a peaceful celebration.

"The Kartikeya Mahadev Temple in Khaggu Sarai is quietly celebrating Holi. There's no reason to be concerned. "The festival is being enjoyed by people in a safe setting," he stated. The shrine is near Shahi Jama Masjid, which has been the focus of controversy since November 24, 2024, when four individuals were killed in sectarian rioting. A group of people protested during a court-ordered inspection of the mosque, which sparked the violence.

Anand Agrawal, district president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), said he was happy with the event. "We got the good opportunity to perform Holi at the Kartikeya Mahadev Temple after 46 years. "Here, people from different social groups have come together to celebrate (Holi) with flowers and colors," he remarked.
