‘Hoping to reach by lunch. An hour for 4 km’: Bengaluru’s Sarjapur Road traffic turns daily commute into a nightmare
Commuters are spending hours traveling short distances in Bengaluru's notoriously bad traffic congestion, particularly along Sarjapur Road, where a commuter on Tuesday said it took him an hour to travel just 4 kilometers. This heavily congested stretch has been beset by a number of civic problems in East Bengaluru.
On the community X handle, 'Citizens Movements East,' the commuter posted "Stuck in traffic #gridlock on Sarjapur Road," expressing displeasure. Just 4 km took an hour, and there are still 13 km to go! I'm hoping to arrive by midday. This is what happens when the system malfunctions. This is the result of CM @siddaramaiah and DyCM @DKShivakumar concentrating solely on doubling their salaries.
It took him two exhausting hours to travel the 14 kilometers along Sarjapur Road and Outer Ring Road (ORR), but he finally arrived at his destination at midday.
