After celebrating his wife's and daughter's birthdays in London on February 24, 29-year-old Saurabh Rajput, a former merchant naval officer, returned home just over a week later to discover his body chopped and sealed in cement inside a drum.

Sahil Shukla, Muskaan's 25-year-old lover, is accused of helping her. Police claim that the two carefully planned the murder, scouting disposal sites and buying sedatives and weapons. In 2019, a school WhatsApp group revived their friendship, which swiftly turned into an affair.

Muskaan finally planned to divorce Saurabh and wed Sahil as a result of the romance. According to police sources, Muskaan and Sahil killed Saurabh because they believed he was a hindrance to their relationship.
