Jharkhand: Bird flu spreads to Bokaro after Ranchi outbreak
About a month after the disease forced the slaughter of 5,500 birds in Ranchi, an official announced on Sunday that a bird flu outbreak had been confirmed in Jharkhand's Bokaro district. He stated that on March 7, the Center sent a letter to the chief secretary of Jharkhand, formally confirming the epidemic, which was caused by the H5N1 strain of avian influenza.
About 250 birds have already perished at the outbreak, which was linked to a government poultry farm in Sector 12 of Bokaro. The Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying requested that the state take all necessary steps to stop the spread of bird flu, including identifying infected and surveillance areas, limiting access to the impacted areas, and culling 46 birds and destroying 506 eggs on Saturday.
"506 eggs and 1,717 kg of chicken feed were destroyed, and the 46 birds that were left at the farm were put down. The farm as a whole was cleaned. Dr. Manoj Mani, Bokaro Animal Husbandry Officer.
